I have broad interests in applied mathematics. My current research includes the mechanics of biological growth; the modelling of the brain, the theoretical foundations of mechanics; the dynamics of curves, knots, and rods; the modelling of cancer; the development of new photovoltaic devices; the modeling of lithium-ion batteries and, more generally the study and development of mathematical methods for applied sciences.

Brain

In recent years, I have become increasingly fascinated by the brain and interested in the modelling of the brain from development, to trauma, and dementia.

Growth

An important part of my research over the last 20 years has been in the development of a mathematical theory of biological growth based on mechanics.
